30 years ago, when Bjorn was just staring out in this business, installing a home entertainment system was easy. Bjorn would pull up to your house and unload a few boxes. He’d carefully place the receiver and the record player on your cinder block and board “bookcase” (the one with the macramé owl hanging nearby). Speakers usually sat on the floor–or on orange crates. Connect a couple of wires, push a button and voila! Boogie Nights.
When VCRs and stereo TV broadcasts came along, things got a little trickier. People wanted to hear TV sound through their audio system. A few more boxes, a few more wires, a few more buttons to push.
That was then, this is the future
Today, people want it all, and thanks to extraordinary technological advances in recent years, they can have it. And Bjorn’s still installs it.
Now people want home entertainment that integrates seamlessly with their décor and lifestyle. Gone (thankfully) are the cinder blocks and orange crates. Now high quality loudspeakers can be mounted nearly invisibly into walls and ceilings. Amazingly thin and lightweight televisions hang on the wall like pictures. A centrally placed audio/video control center can feed picture and sound to multiple locations throughout the home, and provide independent control in each zone.
Not a job for your brother-in-law. (Unless your brother-in-law works for Bjorn’s.)
As systems have become more discrete and luxurious, proper installation has become absolutely vital.
